    How it works

How the freight transit time calculator works

    1

    Choose the origin

Pick where your goods are coming from — China, the United States, the UAE or any of our supported trade lanes.

    2

    Choose the mode

Air, ocean, rail or road. Each mode has very different transit profiles, even on the same route.

    3

    Read the totals

The result gives you the main-leg transit and a door-to-door range with origin handling, customs and delivery built in.

    4

    Plan your stock

Use the figures to time orders, peak-season cover and safety stock — then talk to our team for firm dates.

    Why it matters

Why transit time drives your supply chain

Knowing realistic freight transit times is the difference between landing stock when you need it and missing a season. The transit time calculator gives you an honest, indicative window across air, ocean, rail and road freight so you can plan reorder points, stock cover and customer promises with confidence.

    Air freight: days, not weeks

Door-to-door in roughly 5–10 days on most lanes — ideal for urgent stock, high-value goods or tight launch dates.

    Ocean freight: cost-effective

Around 30–45 days door-to-door from Asia. Slower, but the cheapest mode per kilo for volume cargo.

    Rail: a greener middle ground

Roughly 18–25 days from China to the UK by rail — faster than ocean, far cheaper than air, and a lower-carbon option.

    Road: Europe in days

Within Europe, road freight delivers door-to-door in 1–9 days depending on the country and service type.

    FAQ

    Common questions

Everything you need to know about the Freight Transit Time Calculator.

The calculator returns indicative ranges based on typical performance on each lane and mode. Real shipments depend on sailing schedules, customs clearance speed, and capacity at the time of booking — for a firm date, request a quote from our team.

The biggest factors are the chosen mode (air, ocean, rail or road), the route, peak-season demand, customs delays, weather and port congestion. Our calculator already includes typical origin handling, customs and delivery windows in its door-to-door estimate.

Port-to-port (or airport-to-airport) is just the main shipping leg between the two ports. Door-to-door adds origin collection, export handling, customs clearance and final delivery to the consignee — usually 3–7 extra days in total.

Air freight is the fastest commercial mode. Door-to-door transit is typically 5–8 days from the Far East to the UK, 4–7 days from India, 3–5 days from the United States and 1–3 days within Europe.

Full container loads (FCL) and less-than-container loads (LCL) from China to the UK typically run 30–40 days port to port, or 34–44 days door to door once collection, customs and inland delivery are included.

Yes. Rail freight between China and the UK takes around 18–25 days — significantly faster than the ocean (30–40 days) — at a price between ocean and air freight. It is also a lower-carbon option than air.
